The Everyday Pilgrim

An exploration of life as pilgrimage

This podcast explores life as pilgrimage. We embark on pilgrimage to be transformed in some way. Often, we are in need of answers or guidance. So we leave everything behind to be in total surrender and contemplation around our life: where we are, where we want to be, how we want to live, who we want to be surround by, what gifts we want to share with the world, how we want to contribute to the collective…and what needs to change in our current reality to bring us closer to this vision.

Pilgrimage is renunciation. It is a stripping down, a simplification, a nakedness of spirit. Inherent in pilgrimage is vulnerability and total honesty. We agree to let the light of truth shine through us with all its glory. And this can be confronting. In fact, it often is. But there is a readiness in the pilgrim. She has chosen to walk this path, to take this time, to make this space for herself and her evolution. This component of readiness is crucial. Without it, the pilgrimage is not as impactful.

We can walk the Camino de Santiago, visit temples in the high mountains of Tibet and Nepal, perform Hajj - all deeply beautiful and transformative experiences - but what about walking everyday life as pilgrimage? What about bringing the aliveness, alertness, and openness to life that we often embody on traditional pilgrimages into our everyday? How might that affect us and those closest to us? To be intently present to and receiving of the gift of life, to be at the altar of the present moment.

This doesn’t necessarily look like an overly spiritual life, it feels like a vital life imbued with awareness. And its effects are subtle on those who experience it firsthand. It’s an energy, not a performance. We embody the magic of pilgrimage, it becomes alive in us, which means that we invite those around us to court the surrender, openness, beauty, and receptivity of a true pilgrimage.

This podcast desires to explore the many ways in which people experience and invite these dimensions of pilgrimage into their everyday life. With our guests, we consider what a devoted life means and how it guides their everyday decisions.
